Laos Flag
Laos flag; description, symbol and meaning.

After the victory of the Lao People Revolutionary Party, on 2nd December 1975, the country created a new flag which represents the new era; when the country became a people's republic.
The new national flag has three horizontals strips, the middle blue strip is double the height of the top and the buttom red stripes. Inside the middle blue strip there is a white circle similar to the shape of the moon and the flag ratio is 2:3.
All the colours have different meanings and their own significances. The red colours represent the blood of the people who sacrificed their life to fight for freedom from all foreign invasion and control.
Blue represents the abundance of the country with its natural resources like forests, rivers, mines and fertile land.
The white circle represents the full moon rising at the month of "Deune khun". According to the Buddhist calendar, during this time of the month, people celebrate and enjoy the rising of the full moon, for they can see things as clear as daylight.
This white circle represents a good sign of peace, unity and future prosperity of the country.
